Chesterfield Personal Training Success Stories
I have about 15-20 books on losing weight and have been successful in losing it but not maintaining the weight loss. I always think this will be the time that I lose the weight and keep it off. This time it turned out to be just that. I was skeptical that strength training wouldn’t tone my upper body or help me lose weight though and it did both. Now, I lost 31 lbs and 3 sizes, and have kept it off over a year which is the longest I have ever kept off weight. I have muscle tone in my upper body which I have never had before even though I have worked out with weights for 20 years. I feel better about myself and my ability to maintain my health. I have Type 2 diabetes, my A1C went from 7.1 to 6.1 and I no longer take medicine. For folks without diabetes a normal A1C is 6.0 or below and that is my next goal. I have worked with many trainers throughout the years but this was by far the best results I have ever achieved. I won’t say it was easy because the work outs are some of the most challenging I have ever done but it is worth the effort. And the best part is I am maintaining those results.

When I started training at Finish It Fitness, I had injured my knee in last year’s ½ marathon and had since put on quite a bit of weight. While I still was ok running, I definitely wasn’t where I was before. I was ok with the weight machines at my gym, but I really didn’t feel comfortable pushing myself on those. I’ll admit that I knew about 3 different exercises to do with dumbbells at that time so I pretty much avoided them. Since I travel a lot, I was concerned with fitting in training with the my work schedule. But things were flexible and I always had the information and workouts I needed to be successful on the road. I also had some concerns about the frequency and durations of the workouts. I didn’t think 30 minutes, twice a week would do much. Again, I’m happy to say I was proven wrong. When I started all this, I had just given up and sent most of my size 34 pants to Goodwill. I had purchased a load of size 36 pants with the “stretch” band to help me pretend I wasn’t actually a 38. After training at Finish It Fitness I find myself driving past Goodwill wondering if my favorite pants might still be there. Long story short, I went from a 36+ back to a 34-; lost 20 lbs in weight; Wear a loose fitting Medium shirt instead a tight fitting Large; of took an 11 minute/mile 5K down to a 9:12 min/mile. I feel better about myself and I have the confidence that I can do some exercise with ease that most people wouldn’t even think of trying. I do know I’m miles ahead of where I was when I started.

I thought weight loss would be a long process expecting it to take months before seeing results. I have lost 14.8 pounds in 6 weeks this includes the weeks between Thanksgiving and New Years. I have not experienced the dreaded plateau.
